Description
Jack Schmitt amongst the boulders on the rim of Camelot Crater describes his plans for sampling them. Gene Cernan comes into the foreground telling Jack of further details in the rocks he can see. Capcom Bob Parker talks over them, talking to a colleague about the thermal blanket. Gene goes over to join Jack who is now leaning right over on a boulder trying to collect samples. The two of them skip around together as they plan their sampling strategy some more.

Background to Apollo 17: Apollo 17 was the eleventh manned space mission in the NASA Apollo program. It was the first night launch and the sixth and final lunar landing mission of the Apollo program. As of 2007, it remains the most recent manned Moon landing. Gene Cernan and Geologist Jack Schmitt spent three days exploring the Taurus Littrow Valley with the lunar rover, returning with over 110 kg of samples.
