Description
Jack is sampling the orange soil and describing the site. Gene Cernan comes in from the left to look too. They talk about photographing it. Camera zooms in on the gnomon with its colour card. The pair continue to talk about the site and how best to photograph it. Gene asks Capcom Bob Parker about how they'd like it sampled. Gene kneels down to do his best to sample it. They swap places so Jack can work better. He eventually pulls up a substantial sample from 2-3 inches down with his long handled trowel and places it in bag 509. On the flight directors route you hear the Metabolic assessment team telling Flight that Jack is getting warm inside his suit. Jack points out that the sampling is picking up grey material too. Gene places the sample (now bagged) in the side of Jack's backpack and suggests they take a further sample from the other side.
