Description
Continuation of clip FTV-0000797. Joe Allen comments "We have a view of the Rille that is absolutely unearthly". Scott replies "Yeah. Didn't we tell you?" He continues talking to Jim Irwin. "Give me your other bag, Jim; I'll put it in." Irwin: (To Joe) Glad you can enjoy it with us." Scott "Yes, sir, Joe. Tell me this isn't worth doing, boy. The camera pans right to left along the east rim of the Rille towards Mt Hadley itself. Scott continues "Okay. Now we got the fillet, we got the soil; now we need to sample the rock." Irwin: "Yeah." Scott "Let me get...Give me your hammer. Okay. I got it." Irwin: "Look at the vesicles in that rock." Scott: "Those are glass bubbles." Irwin: "Glass bubbles; yeah. Scott: Okay. Hey, listen; I want to get a close-up of that contact. Hold on to this (either bag 181 or the hammer) a second." Irwin: "Okay." Scott "Let me get my trusty tongs. As a matter of fact, if you'll pull a bag out, Jim, I'm going to get a quick selected sample here." Irwin: "Okay." Scott: "Okay. Hey, listen; I want to get a close-up of that contact. Hold on to this (either bag 181 or the hammer) a second." Irwin: "Okay." Scott "Let me get my trusty tongs. As a matter of fact, if you'll pull a bag out, Jim, I'm going to get a quick selected sample here." Irwin: "Okay"

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 15:
Apollo 15 was the ninth manned mission in the Apollo program and the fourth mission to land on the Moon. It was the first of what were termed J missions, long duration stays on the Moon with a greater focus on science than had been possible on previous missions. Dave Scott and Jim Irwin spent three days exploring the Hadley Delta region with the first Lunar Rover, returning 77kg of samples to Earth.
