Description
Dave Scott is at the sextant. The camera drops down towards his feet as he performs a somersault. Behind them Rusty is seen on his couch. He floats over to the camera and opens his mouth - pretending to swallow the lens. The shot pans around to show Dave still at the sextant. Jim is to the left of shot and passes the camera to Rusty to film him lying down on his couch and playing with the joystick control. Dave comes into shot again on the right and Jim still in the couch looks through a telescope eye piece. Jim opens a draw string bag and gets out some parcels (perhaps food) and throws them towards the other crew mates. Rusty opens his parcel and pops the contents into his mouth. The camera spins around to show Jim holding an unidentified piece of equipment. It's passed to Dave.

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 9:
Apollo 9 was the third manned mission in the Apollo program, a ten day Earth-orbital mission launched 3 March 1969. It was the second manned flight of the Saturn V launch vehicle and the first manned flight of the Apollo Lunar Module (LM). Rusty Schweickart and Dave Scott performed an EVA to check out the new Apollo spacesuit, the first to have its own life support system rather than being dependent on an umbilical connection to the spacecraft.
