Description
Brief, but clear, close up view of the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia docked with the Lunar Module and seen from the LEM window. The hatch and windows of the Command Module are clearly visible. The lens of the 16mm camera filming the scene can be glimpsed in the reflection in the LEM window.

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 11:
The Apollo 11 mission was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. It was the fifth human spaceflight of the Apollo programs, and the third human voyage to the moon. Launched on July 16, 1969, it carried Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin.

Rendezvous:
On board film taken from the LM Ascent Stage upon liftoff from the moon reveal the American flag, planted some 25 feet from the descent stage, whipping violently in the exhaust of the ascent stage engine. After rendezvous with Columbia, Eagle was jettisoned and left in lunar orbit.
