Description
Mostly dark view inside the powered down Command Module looking towards one of the windows. We can see a silhouetted joystick controller and the outlines of the couches. Fred Haise (filming it with his left hand) is visible in the darkness to the right of the frame. He pans the camera further round and floats through the connecting tunnel between the spacecraft and on into the LEM where Jim Lovell and Jack Swigert (camera right) are floating upside down. The control panels and characteristic triangular windows are clearly visible in front of them. The shot becomes very dark towards the end.

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 13:
Apollo 13 was the third manned lunar-landing mission, part of Project Apollo under NASA in the United States. The crew members were Commander James A. Lovell, Command Module pilot John L. "Jack" Swigert, and Lunar Module pilot Fred W. Haise. Two days after the launch, the Apollo spacecraft was crippled by an explosion, caused by a fault in the oxygen tank. The explosion damaged the Service Module, resulting in a loss of oxygen and electrical power. The crew used the Lunar Module as a "lifeboat" in space. The Command Module systems remained functional, but were deactivated to preserve the vehicle's capability to re-enter Earth's atmosphere. Despite severe constraints on power, cabin heat, and potable water, the crew endured great hardship and successfully returned to Earth.
