Description
View of the Frau Mauro landing site from the LEM window showing the flag, the shadow and edge of the MET (Mobile Equipment Transporter), the shadow of the Communications antenna, the edge of the LEM and other debris. 45 seconds into the clip is the moment of ignition - blowing dust, debris and fragments of gold Mylar foil from the lower stage across the landing site. About 56 seconds in, the LEM tips over revealing a more vertical view down onto the landing site showing the wheel tracks left by the MET and the smaller craters dotted across the landing site. The ascent continues towards lunar orbit and rendezvous with the Command Module.

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 14:
Apollo 14 was the eighth manned mission in the Apollo program and the third mission to land on the Moon. The mission, (a come back mission following Apollo 13) suffered two serious technical problems on the way down to the lunar surface, but eventually made a landing at the Frau Mauro Formation, the destination for Apollo 13. Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell conducted two EVAs and returned 42.28 kg of samples.
