Apollo 15 Lunar Rover Drive  (FTV-0002355)
This text will be replaced

Description
View from the front of the Lunar Rover showing the remote control TV camera in its stowed position for driving, and the support rod holding the communications antenna. There is a brief glimpse of the stills camera mounted on Dave Scott's chest to the left of frame, but for most of this clip the view from the camera is looking straight ahead across the Hadley plains as Jim Irwin and Dave Scott drive to their next station. The shadow of the communications dish is cast onto the surface ahead of the rover. About four minutes into the clip the rover is parked up and thirty seconds later Commander Dav Scott is seen to the left of the frame as he comes around to make some adjustments to the Comms dish - presumably to turn on the TV camera to provide live pictures. As he works at the front of the rover the view behind the camera is reflected clearly in his gold visor. His red stripes on the pressure suit and helmet confirm that he is the commander of the mission.

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 15:
Apollo 15 was the ninth manned mission in the Apollo program and the fourth mission to land on the Moon. It was the first of what were termed J missions, long duration stays on the Moon with a greater focus on science than had been possible on previous missions. Dave Scott and Jim Irwin spent three days exploring the Hadley Delta region with the first Lunar Rover, returning 77kg of samples to Earth.
