Description
Re-entry, seen from onboard the Apollo 16 Command Module. Plasma licks around the capsule as it hits the Earth's tenuous upper atmosphere at over 25,000 mph. Glimpses of the Pacific ocean are seen as the spacecraft spins and flies its trajectory up and down through the re-entry corridor.

Background to Apollo 16:
Apollo 16 was the tenth manned mission in the Apollo program and the fifth mission to land on the Moon. John Young and Charlie Duke spent three days exploring the Decartes Highlands with the Lunar Rover, returning 95.71kg of samples to Earth, whilst Ken Mattingly conducted experiments and observations from lunar orbit.
