Description
Commander Dave Scott drives the Lunar Rover across the Hadley Plains - filmed by Jim Irwin sitting next to him. The clip starts with a close up of Dave at the controls - looking straight ahead - the scene reflected in his gold visor and his stills camera mounted prominently on his chest. The letters CDR denote that it is his camera. The footage pans round to the right catching a glimpse of an orange fender covering the front left wheel and the communcations antenna mount. A wire connecting the remote control TV camera to it is also visible on the rightof frame. The camera is tilted forward in its stowed position. The shadow of the comms dish and the TV camera is cast onto the lunar surface ahead of the rover. As the rover bounces along the gold battery covers flap up and down at the front. Mount Hadley comes into view on the right hand side and the tracks they left on the way out come into view as they follow them back.

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 15:
Apollo 15 was the ninth manned mission in the Apollo program and the fourth mission to land on the Moon. It was the first of what were termed J missions, long duration stays on the Moon with a greater focus on science than had been possible on previous missions. Dave Scott and Jim Irwin spent three days exploring the Hadley Delta region with the first Lunar Rover, returning 77kg of samples to Earth.
