Description
View from the Lunar Module Challenger as it pitches over and makes its final approach into the Taurus Littrow valley. The peaks of the rounded mountains are seen around the edges of this spectacular canyon as the spacecraft nears its landing site. Craters loom up and the shadow of the LEM can be seen cast on the surface ahead - revealing the speed of descent. The LEM pitches over again to make its final landing and we lose site of a shadow before it looms large again close to the camera - the legs and landing gear showing up particularly clearly in the shadow. The engine is switched off and the dust clears revealing the clarity of the craters.
