Skylab Appraoch and Docking  (FTV-0003092)
This text will be replaced

Description
Speeded up approach to the docking port of Skylab, and the moment of docking of mission SL-2. The targeting point and the American Stars and Stripes flag are straight ahead of the camera. Earlier view of part of Skylab showing a close approach to its side. Reaction control engines puff out their gases. We move along the craft a little and glimpse the edge of the Earth passing quickly beneath. Then the shot pulls back wider above Skylab with the Earth behind it and we move around towards the multiple docking adaptor end and attempt to dock twice before both spacecraft pass across the terminator and into the night side of the Earth before the film runs out.

Historic Context of Clip

Skylab was the first space station the United States launched into orbit. The 75 metric ton station was in Earth orbit from 1973 to 1979, and it was visited by crews three times in 1973 and 1974. It included a laboratory for studying the effects of microgravity and a solar observatory.
