Apollo 11 capsule communicator (capcom) Bruce McCandless talks to the Apollo 11 crew shortly prior to loss of signal (LOS) as the spacecraft moves behind the moon to perform the lunar orbit insertion (LOI) manouvere.

Transcript from air to ground flight loop (time on the left denotes ground elapsed time, or GET)

075:37:02 McCandless: 75 hours, 37 minutes GET.

075:37:07 Armstrong: Thank you.

075:37:12 McCandless: And I'll give you a time hack on time to ignition at 12 minutes to ignition. Over.

The clip shows part of the above exchange. The audio has been synchronised with the picture as accurately as possible, with film leader added either side and audio overlayed to better show the context of the clip. Seated on McCandless's right is Apollo 11 backup crew member Jim Lovell, with NASA Director of Flight Crew Operations Deke Slayton and flight controller Ed Fendell also visible in the background.

Historic Context of Clip
Background to Apollo 11:
The Apollo 11 mission was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. It was the fifth human spaceflight of the Apollo programs, and the third human voyage to the moon. Launched on July 16, 1969, it carried Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin.

Landing:
On July 20, 1969 the Lunar Module, called Eagle, separated from the Command Module, Columbia to make its descent to the lunar surface. As the landing began, Armstrong reported they were "running long"; Eagle was 4 seconds further along its descent trajectory than planned, and would land miles west of the intended site. Armstrong's first words after landing were: "Houston, Tranquillity Base here. The Eagle has landed."
